2. A ‘his, her’, AN ‘their’

A + sèimheachadh (lenition): HIS
A gun sèimheachadh (no lenition): HER

a dhreuchd - his job; a dreuchd - her job
a theaghlach - his family; a teaghlach - her family
a shaoghal - his world; a saoghal - her world

AN their

an dreuchdan - their jobs (the jobs - na dreuchdan)
an teaghlaichean - their families (the families - na teaghlaichean)
an saoghalan - their worlds (the worlds - na saoghalan)

Note possibility of confusion between ‘their’ and ‘the’ with singular masculine noun:
an dreuchd - the job / their job
an teaghlach - the family / their family
an saoghal - the world / their world
an riochdaire - the representative / their representative

No confusion if ACA (at them) used: an X aca (the X at them = their X)
