"There is no substitute for one-to-one advice from aÌýtop medical expert and that's what we offer our callers and emailers. But for each person who calls to ask for help, someone else phones in to pass on a tip or a suggestion -Ìýit's a great programme to present."

Insomnia
Most people have had trouble getting to sleep at some time in their lives, perhaps due to worry, a bad cold or too much excitement.
But imagine if you lay awake night after night for a month or even longer with no obvious cause, and are exhausted during the day, until the very fear of not being able to sleep keeps you up.
This condition is known as chronic insomnia, and itÌýaffects 10 to 15% of the population and 12 million prescriptions for sleeping tablets are written in the UK every year.
New research by Barbara Myers' guest shows that there is a drug-free solution.Ìý
Simple self-help strategies such as sleep hygiene - not watching TV or using a computer late at night - can have long-lasting positive effects on sleep patterns.
Restricting how much you sleep and not going to bed too early can make a difference.
It all sounds like common sense, but it is backed by real scientific evidence.
If you have counted sheep for long enough and want to know whatÌý drug-free steps you can take to get a good night's sleep, let us know.
Barbara Myers will be putting your questions to Kevin Morgan, Professor of Gerontology at Loughborough University's Sleep Research Centre.
Contact the Programme Check UpÌý is your opportunity to ask an expert about the condition. If you have a question, contact us by calling 0870 010 0444 from 1.30pm - 3.30pm on the day of broadcast or by emailingÌý the programme - see 'Contact Check Up' link above.
