Thanks for your good wishes. There is no change in Annie's condition. She is deeply comatose with tubes everywhere. She has contracted a very rare branch of post operative ecoli but the microbiologists have identified it and are administering the appropriate antibiotics. She would be touched by your messages as I am. Calum

Hullo Calum, I've been on the move the last days so have only now got the very bad news through courtesy of Flying Cat. Annie B. was the first IBlog that I read and it was hilarious. Like Jill I don't pray but I can sure think positive thoughts and am doing so now, both for Annie and for you.
Barney from Swithiod very, very sad
hopefully now they've found out whats caused this, she will soon be on the road to recovery, thinking about you, annie and the rest of your family tell her to hang on :xx
carol from in whitianga,feeling sad
Thurs am Annie has had a calm night but is still critical. She has been move to a side area in ITU to avoid infecting other patients I guess. The organism is highly resistant to nearly all the antibiotics on the market. On the plus side there seem to be two fewer tubes attached and her induced coma is lighter.
calum from itu
Glad to hear things are improving; at least fewer tubes is a good sign. We have everything crossed for her.
Carol from IBHQ
Glad to hear the news is better.
Fletcher Saga from Claremont, Stronsay, Orkney
these bugs are hell to combat and trying to find the right antiobio is a nightmare for the medical stuff but, i'm sure she'll pull through ok in the end --positive signs "lighter coma 2 tubes less: come on annie b were all rooting for you here back on ib: when ypur fighting fit again i know you're going to de write one brilliant blog about this xxxxxxto you all

Annie is now conscious and off dialysis though confused due to a calcium deficiency. She is on a high dependency ward so things are miraculously moving in the right direction. Thanks for all your good wishes - we appreciate them Calum

Carol from IBHQ
WED Annie is now completely unhooked but infectious. The antibiotics she has been on this past week have killed her immune system so she has to build that back up before she can be released. She is wondering where the lost week went. Thnaks for all your good wishes Calum
