Greetings from Finland! Just stumbled upon your site by accident when reading other Lordi news, and after a while of reading your site, I am a tad confused... I have to ask, what is this fank you mention? A festival? Music? Religious? Rock? Or other? My english isn't that superb to determine whether you were being ironic or not about the booking of Lordi, (ESC winners 2006) - but since you mentioned not having seen them as such... you do know that they play horror hard rock dressed up in monstersuits:)? They aren't quite gospel (even if Mr Lordi is a church member and another one of them used to work for the church) and not to every taste - even if in Finland folks are quite nuts about them and their music... and what brilliant music it is:)! Anyhow, if your fank is a rock fest, sorry, was just checking, enjoy Lordi, you can certainly expect one spectacular show! Joy to the world and best wishes, Susanna

I'm disappointed to hear that 'Hard Rock Hallelujah" isn't a geologist's tribute to Lewisian Gneiss.

Lewisian Gneiss............is that any relation of Lewisian Gnus, the well-known western wildebeest family?

A fank is an occasion for shearing sheep in the buff (without the benefit of a prior visit to the sauna). Check Wikipedia. My only advice to you, to be frank, is to stay away from Fanks. Much safer to visit Ness and enjoy the local specialty - guga a l'orange. For the faint of heart, there is always haggis and blood pudding in Stornoway (but not on a Sunday), not to mention the wishbone pulling contest (puts kissing under the mistletoe to shame, really) that travels from one western isle to another, emceed by Graham from IBHQ.

Dear Susanna The Fank is an installation that has been nominated for the Turner Prize in the UK . This is a prestigious award that in the past has been won by a pickled shark and more recently by an unmade bed. We were intending to make Lordi an unwitting part of the whole piece. I'm sure that's answered your query. PS Everyone finds this site by accident - no one in their right mind would go looking for it!
