"Nature is full of surprises, so the programme can investigate fascinating and challenging areas in our relations with the natural world without being too technical or preachy. My job is brilliant because, as a link between the listener and the subject, I can discover new information and ideas which help people make up their own minds on important issues."

Goshawk Down
Paul Evans investigates the sharp decline and local extinctions of goshawks and peregrines in the Dark Peak area of Derbyshire’s Peak District National Park .
With the help of the RSPB’s Investigations officer for the area he learns why , despite legal protection, birds of prey are still targets for a minority of offenders. He also delves into the history of raptor persecution and uncovers killing on an unheard-of scale in Victorian Britain. Are these attitudes persistent, and will they be reinforced by the increase in protected species?
