Emergency Blog
Posted: Thursday, 14 December 2006 |
I feel compelled to blog, in order to stop people posting comments about Ruthodanort on my previous musings. Claudias: you just need to get a boat. That'll be a babe magnet at the Baltasound pier.
Anyway, I know Ruthodanort is going to a works do this weekend. Will she still be extremely beautiful by the end of it? Ha!
Anyway back to Fetlar issues:
Fetlar School will premiere the film masterpiece Grumpilocks & the Four Bairns on Tuesday 19th December at 8pm. All are welcome- ferries are at 1850 from Yell & 1905 from Unst. There will be Mince Pies cooked by the bairns own hands and a raffle. How could anyone resist?
The school also has beautiful Xmas decorations for the audience to ooh & ah at. Come & be amazed (or just bemused by it all).
Feliz Navidad fae Fetlar
PS Weather is rotten - force 10 wind, rain, sleet & hail.
www.fetlar.shetland.sch.uk provides fairly current weather pictures (as well as pictures of the island on the virtual tour).

Fog on the Thames!
Posted: Sunday, 31 December 2006 |
Feel I must post a blog saying how my journey to the dark lands of the south went.
Well, I set off from Fetlar on the 21st and stayed a night at Schloss Soljey in the delightful company of Soljey & Consort. We had tattie soup which was amazingly good. I've never had this before.
After this we went to the Sumburgh Suite to see Ruthodanort who was down in the depths of the south for some reason. Don't know what she was doing there at night. Four posts or something was mentioned!!!
The TV was full of news about cancelled flights in some country called England, so I thought I may be spending Xmas in the Schloss. However, fog appeared to cause all my flights to run on time. My luggage even arrived on the same flight as me.
Fog is obviously a good thing, especially when its down south - even though it makes national news. Manchester Airport and the motorways were also empty, but clear of fog. I was in the chippy by 6:15. (Visits to chippies are essential as we don't have a chippy van or access to fast food in Fetlar. In fact the easiest way to eat out is either chippy night in Unst each month or a trip to the bright lights of Lerwick!)
I also entered into the Xmas spirit doon south by invading a local 24hr shopping experience at 10:30pm. Yes, I already have the new Fetlar School Xmas Tree & lights for 2007 & a pile of tatty tinsel. Can't resist decorations that have been reduced.
Shop, shop, shop when you are south. Its the only way to keep sane.
Happy 2007!
