Papa Westray, known to locals as Papay, is one of the most northerly of
the Orkney islands. It's home to the oldest house in northern Europe at
the Knap of Howar, built and occupied a millennium before the pyramids.
The island is small - only abut 4 miles long by abut a mile wide, but its
rich fertile land mean that it has been home to farming activity for at
least 5,000 years. Today it is home to about 70 people.
