Foula is remote amongst remote islands. It is the most westerly point of
Shetland. With a population of only 30 they are a hardy bunch inhabiting
the crofting townships below the five peaks of Da Noup, Hamnafield, Da Sneug,
Da Kame and Soberlie.
The islands name means 'Bird Island' and the island is indeed rich in bird
life.
