Having fun - anyone out there?

Hello World of Blogging,
I'm here to log my tales of comedy, cats, transport, weather and general Orkney things.
I can't promise to be informative, but I will try to keep bobbing along.
A little background.
I've lived in Westray for just over 3 years and recently started contributing to the local comedy scene in fusion. If anyone else is interested we're trying to get a group together for support.
I have a cat called Calvin. (we had one called Hobbes, who was run over) He is manic, fights me, leaps on bookcases, sleeps in the airing cupboard but is scared of a local ginger tom with 3 legs who stalks him and gets in through our cat flap and east his food.
I support the Orkney Ark animal rescue in Sanday - please help Jane to help the unwated animals. It's very hard work and she loves the animals so much.
I work from home and often travel to Mainland Orkney or further south co-ordinating transport to get off the island is like a major military exercise (and with their budget) but still better than some have - so good to prod the council about improvements.
The one thing that makes me Maaaaad is that when I came here, I thought the whole of Orkney would work together to make life easy for those on the outer islands, but NO. The folk in Kirkwall are just as narrow minded about arranging meetings to link in with isle ferries and life on them as the central belt is about living on an island. Someome please prove me wrong and tell me there is a strategy to help and support each other!!
I *must* go and get some work done, but couldn't resist contributing to this fine oppportunity.
Remember...
have fun, life is too short but don't shorten anyone else's life when you're having fun.
cheers,
Mad Lamb
