CommentsHi Mad Lamb - welcome! Good to see some blogs emerging that aren't just from the Orkney Mainland. Can you send me an email to islandblogging@bbc.co.uk to finish your registration? thanks, Mike PS what are unwated animals?

Hello Madlamb. You could take the Arran approach to meeting shedules; make them wait and if they've started without you just make them stop and read the miutes before they can continue. The great thing about living somewhere a bit remote is that you can get out of most meetings completely! Good Luck!
Sunny from Arran
Mike has rightly pointed out that 'unwated animals' should be 'unwanted animals' Sunny, from Arran - thankfully I very few work related meetings as my 'office' is in Bristol, but I do visit them twice a year to catch up face to face and socialise. Unfortunately the local meetings are just events that would be nice to attend but practically impossible due the cost of adding accommodation on top. The trouble with living somewhere the tourists like to come is that all the hotels charge the earth - even in the winter. To be fair a couple of hotels offer special 'isle's rates' but with limited avalability they can quickly fill up. Does Arran have a comedy scene at all? In fact I'd be interested to know of any island that has a roaring comedy scene. Ours is wimpering in the corner. Cheers, Mad Lamb

Have a look at the Western Isles sites. There's a comedy scene going on there alright - whether it's roaring is debatable. Sunny from Arran is hooked into it. Look at submissions from calumannabel or annie bheag
