the fank was great. we met LOADS of folk, a very few were nice and friendly. Most were desperate but awfully polite about it. much of what went on is under reporting embargo. the only thing I am allowed say is (subject to press restrictions) I will NEVER accompany that woman Babsie Anne fae Nort anywhere again.(who invited her?) her fireman's lift had to be seen to be believed. A very large American person had to be taken to the First Aid tent to recover, it was a pity she insisted on carrying him there. Never mind, they are probably still travelling in a westerly direction....I wish him luck and her happiness.

spring at last - must be Folk Festival time
Posted: Sunday, 23 April 2006 |
The weather is getting better - its been sunny and not so freezing cold. the celandines, the daffodils and the primroses are all blooming. isn't that nice. still no grass though. And there are lambs and calves. I sound like a primary 3 pupil writing about 'My Easter Holiday'
Next weekend is the Folk Festival, last year was brilliant, Ruthodanort is coming and bringing several friends, so it should be a good weekend. The best thing of all is that we have a holiday on Monday too. Last year was the 25th anniversary if the Festival and it was so good. A very big thank you to all those who help run it as volunteers, its very much appreciated. We will miss the Old Rope String Band, thats for sure.
And Guy Davis - what music! mmmm....
Many years ago Elvis Costello came and I mentioned to a friend how good he was 'he's staying with us' she confided. I loved his music - Oliver's Army etc.

sweet sticky pudding
Posted: Monday, 24 April 2006 |
this is a recipe completely invented by my 8 year old. is anyone brave enough to try it? I have just eaten a plateful. the things a mother has to do...
MY FAMOUS SWEET RECIPE (as dictated by child)
ingredients:
a bag of marshmallows
chocolate digestives
kit kats - the thin ones
some sponge (mum to make that)
a big bar of chocolate
a can of squoosy cream.
method:
melt chocolate in the microwave (mum's job)
stir it till its smooth and chocolatey
get a plastic bag and put 6 chocolate digestives in it grab a rolling pin and smash digestives till crumbs
take a pie dish and put in the sliced up sponge
spread the chocolate on top
sprinkle the chocolate digestives on top
put the marshmallows on top
cover with squoosy cream
taste it
put in the fridge to set
share with family if you want to
oh the kit kats - stick in like you would a flake into an ice cream, or just put under pillow for later.
