Black Night

Dark nights, short days: that's what we've had at the moment. There's been no time to blog. Perfect time of year to play Hnefatafl.

The board.

Hnefatafl is the Viking version of chess. Its a real game of strategy and is addictive. Fetlar is hoping to host the World Series of Hnefatafl in 2008.

More details later as the dark nights progress...

It looks like it's been carved into slate, then had gold paint rubbed in and then oiled/waxed/varnished.

Falafel's hard enough, but at least you can eat them...

Flying Cat from a mediterranean cookbook

we were once invited around for falafel, and after agreeing cheerfully and arrangin a suitable night, rushed home at top speed to find out just what we had agreed to...dictionary, cook book, phone a friend... ah yes - we EAT it. phew.

scallowawife from also in a cookery book

The little insignificant chickpea is a truly versatile pulse and has only one tiny drawback. And suddenly fpu is transported back in time to a scruffy flat in Anderston, where they used to make their own entertainment...well they did in those days...and the dental student who used to light his own...I leave it to your imaginations.

Flying Cat from testing times for blue jeans

Hi...the board is hand made..I make them..and Flying Cat is absolutely correct, it is carved in slate then has gold leaf paint rubbed into the carved area and then excess taken off with a polish finish. Well Done Cat!! Looking forward to the Championship on the 2nd August in Fetlar...I wont be competing but will be there. Brill game.... Theresa
