Unexpected Opperchancities!

The Basket Weaver has reliably informed me that there is a SPECIAL OFFER on the ferry!!! Surely not! I phoned the booking office, and it's true! A car and two people can travel return for ony (the pound sign isn't working as my laptop has decided it's american) 30quid! You have to book and pay on a Friday and travel on Saturday returning Saturday or Sunday and it stands both ways for the whole of March! So if you want to visit Arran and actually get round it in one weekend then this is your lucky day!

We are now deciding where to go, are there any other offer on we can take advantage of on the other islands? Could we bring the fank forward and cut it down to a speed fank? This whole week long shenannigans is getting a bit out of hand and I fear for the sanity of the orginisers. More to the point we have this golden oppertunity to get off the island and go somewhere without bankrupting ourselves or having to rely on public transport. Is there anything worth visiting, going to see or hear? All we've come up with so far is a trip to the pictures but the Screen Machine arrived today so that seems a bit of a waste. Suggestions in the comments box please?

Calling Calumannabel and Donald

Calling Calumannabel and Donald. With the fank only weeks away have you decided how you are actually going to get people together? The social event sounds very exciting but you know how reticent islanders are, the women in one hall, the men in the bar. How do you plan to overcome these obsticles to love? The Arran Vikingesses are demanding a return on their investement, are there going to be enough menfolk to go round? Are they all going to fit in the boat back to Arran, should we bring a trailer? Are they keen or should we bring the medication? These are questions we will be needing answers to. Is this the sort of practicle enquiries you are looking for?

The Arran Knitting In A Pub Club

The Arran Knitting In A Pub Club will be meeting at the Eden Lodge at 7.30pm this Wednesday 8th March 2006 (TONIGHT) and next Wednesday 15th March too. We normally meet in a different pub around the island each week but as The Eden Lodge has already started the smoking ban we will be meeting there till the ban is in place everywhere else to avoid our knitting getting smokey. It's completely free and open to anyone over the age of 18. Just come along and bring your knitting. If you have never knitted before we will be happy to get you started and give you what ever help you need, just bring wool, needles and preferably a pattern unless you want to start with a scarf. It's not so much a serious club as a social occasion. This week I will mostly be unripping the enormous tent of a jumper (with extra complicated cable) I knitted last winter for my mum then realised you could house a small familly in it. So skill levels are negligable.

Arran Valrykie - Every 91热爆 Should Have One!

So we've got celebrities for the BB Bochan, we've got music, we've got a guided tour of the I Can't Believe it's Not Guga factory, we've got galleons of home brew and BoB doing the catering not to mention all those Hedgehog specialities excellent! But what are the arrangements for accomodation? As the Arran Vikingesses are uncertain as to their longship being seaworthy in time and therefore might not have a boat to sleep under, we are considering knitting a chalet for the fank but need to know if there will be room for it or should we book into the byre? Or could someone put us up? We are all house trained (more or less) and each valrykie comes with her own specific skill to pay for her upkeep, we've got potters, jewelry makers, knitters, artists, crafters, wood carvers, a diver someone who speaks a bit of japanese, a poet and varying domestic and gourmet skills! Offers of accomodation will be taken up on a first come and best offer basis. Having a Valrykie under your roof should definitely increase your fank chances!

Please post offers below as we want to get in before the colonial and northern isles chicks!

The Knitting In A Pub Club 22nd March Meeting

This week The Knitting In A Pub Club will be meeting at The Drift Inn Lamlash at 7.30pm on Wednesday the 22nd March Next week I think the plan is to meet in Brodick but will keep you posted. I'm waiting to hear back from Calumannabel and Donald regarding accomodation for the Dell Fank, if we can wangle somewhere to stay then great but if not I propose using this weeks meeting to knit a chalet to stay in for the duration of the Fank as it's still a bit cold for normal camping, especially as we will be wanting to maintain the most glamerous and polished images possible and that can be a bit difficult if one has spent the night in the cow shed.

So expecting a good turn out tomorrow night where we will discuss the finer points of the Fank. If Donald and Calumannabel can let us know what these are we would be most grateful.
