Strange stones

Whilst renovating our house we found a strange stone buried in the floor. Does anyone know what it might be ?
Is it a sign?
Should we be worried ?

you have the same table mats as I do - yes you ought to worry.

scallowawife from shetland

Well scallowawife we obviously have good taste in table mats. Perhaps the stone is meant to spread the word about table mats !!!!!!!!!!!!

It wouldn't be a little schist would it?

you mean flying cat that we might have a metamorphic rock ? I think you are taking the mica :)

Congratulations.I believe you have discovered the long lost proof connecting Orkney and Orkland.

Roy from Kiwi Land

Pray tell me Roy What is the proof ?

barebraes from shapinsay

But obviously, barebraes (care to explicate the name?), you "gotta" know how to read the Kiwi's entrails. Therein lies the proof (or is it spoof?).

mjc from NM,USA

60% proof, at a guess.

Flying Cat from beside a nip (or three)

60% is about right for the local brew "Hokonui ".But beware the revenue gatherers.

Roy from Kiwi Land

barebraes means bare hillside (mjc) as far I my orcadian goes. And Roy we have a brew here , its called tea and we dont get taxed on it hic !!!

barebraes from under the influence hic!!!

Kia Ora barebraes.Hokonui became popular because we like to retain many of Scotland's finest traditions.

Roy from Kiwi Land

Roy, I am glad to hear that you are keeping with all the scottish traditions, Hopefully you dont go out on windy days with your kilt on

Barebraes from Shapinsay

Barebraes. It's winter here. Not many of us are wearing kilts.

Roy from Kiwi Land

Q: what's worn under the kilt? A: nothing is worn - its all in perfect working order thank you...

scallowawife from shetland

Barebraes: what's wrong with wearing kilts on windy days? Natural air fresheners, I would think.

mjc from NM,USA

well mjc because I;m of the female species I can only imagine how draughty it could be. Perhaps alright if you rub goose grease on your chest to ward off the influenza.

Barebraes from Shapinsay

Pop out to Warebeth on a breezy day and you may just spy a very competent watercolourist wearing a Flying Kilt to great effect..........wa-hey, the old ones are the best, scallowawife!

some believe that burying something significant under a stone brings luck. Are you sure there was nothing underneath it? Was it buried with salt? (You may have to taste it.)
