Ring Watching......

I've been working for a wee while with a colleague who checks out nearly every guy she meets as a potential "date".

I'd laughed off her behaviour until today, when I found myself sitting in the dentist's waiting room, checking the left hand of all the guys in the room for wedding bands.

HELP!!!

I never realised "Fun" was taxed!!

Was having a surf of some shops on the internet last night when I found on one site, (Can I mention Superdrug here Mike??) when there under the "health" tab was the heading VAT free condoms.

Did any of you guys out there know that you pay VAT on condoms??

Moon Walk

Well there will be some sights to see on Lismore this weekend. Saturday sees the island host their first ever "Moon Walk".

No it's got nothing to do with the Jackson Trial result, but instead it's part of the island's fundraising for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Part of the walk is to come along in a decorated bra. Beth and Ellen who organise events for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, have said that the men of the island can also take part, but they too will have to be wearing a decorated bra.

I'm sure Pauline will be about to take a few pictures.....

For further information - have a peek at the www.isleoflismore.com and then click on the what's on tab...

I'll let you all know how it went, and if I've any piccys handy will pop them up.

Till Later

Comann Eachdraidh Lios Mor

Congratulations to the Comann Eachdraidh Lios Mor who have announced that, as all funding is now in place, work on the Gaelic Heritage Museum can commence. It will be built alongside Taigh Iseabal – the reconstructed crofters’ cottage above;. the whole complex will provide a focus for preserving the island’s past and forging a viable future. At last there will be a place to house Lismore’s rich archive, currently in the old school house at Achnacroich, as well as providing facilities to meet, to study, to socialise, and to enjoy teas, coffees and meals..

Taigh Iseabal is now open for the season thanks to the generosity of the many islanders who are acting as guides. In good weather the ferry is already busy with cyclists and walkers who can visit the cottage every day (except Wednesday) from 11 until 4pm. A ticket also gives entry to the archive at Achnacroich.

PS Thanks to the Lismore website for the above

Slowly but surely I'm losing the plot.......

Drove to work today, and for those of you who don't already know, I work down at Airthrey Castle at Stirling University. Go off on a fortnight's leave tonight - and I think that its a good thing.

Why? Because this morning I tried to open my office door with the remote control doofer for the central locking system on my car.......

Let's get the flock out of here - as the shepherd once said....

So I'm heading off on leave for a fortnight. I decided that I was getting as far away as possible from the Central Belt for the next two weeks.

Why - well you may have heard that there is to be a wee get together up at Gleneagles. A cosy sort of get together, just the leaders of 8 countries, their staff, their staff's staff, their security detail, the 10,000 police officers, Lord only knows how many protesters.

Add to that the Live8 event in Edinburgh, T in the Park, The Open, Doune & Dunblane Show, Wet Wet Wet at Stirling Castle, Will Young at the Castle, Stirling's Highland Games, and an eco-village for 5000 people at Stirling and you start realising that it's going to be a bit busy in the Central Belt.

So instead, I'm heading North. The mobile is being switched off, and I'm only answering a landline phone during the hours of 1002am and 1007am on Tuesdays!

Okay, I'm now going to attempt to pop a couple of photos up here using the Image Gallery. Wish me luck.

Commonwealth Games Melbourne 2006

Hurray!!

Have got through the first couple of stages to become a volunteer at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games next year.

Got an email asking for a landline number that they could call me on for a brief interview. Fantastic you'd think. They'll be calling between 09.30 and 16.30. Eastern Standard Time. Which means between midnight and 7 am our time.

Oh well... It will be worth it. Have bought an new phone system so that I can have a phone upstairs right next to my bed.... Didn't fancy having to try and wake up, then run down stairs to answer a phone within 9 rings or have it go onto that 1571 service.

Fingers crossed...

It's just a pity that Romania isn't in the Commonwealth, so no Marian Dragulescu to watch in the Men's Gymnastics.....
