Moon Landings

Just read Small Isles blog link re the Moon Trees.

We have regular "discussions" about whether or not anyone has landed on the moon.

With all the hype about government cover ups etc, the space race between Russia and the USA I'd like to ask a question to get your thoughts on the matter.

The space race (for want of a better phrase) started with launching rockets, then it progressed to rockets with animals (dogs/monkeys), then there was the first manned flight into space and the return. Now it was very much a case of one country leading the way with the other following as quickly on their heels as possible.

What a huge part of the "family discussions" is, why didn't Russia ever land on the moon. If America were doing it - why didn't they follow on the heels of them.

How come no-one has landed on it during the last generation?

That usually leads to the whole question of building a space station, where it can be hit by space debris when it may have been "safer" to build it on the moon. As if moon buggies can be taken and driven on the moon (must go and google this to find out if it really did happen or if that's just an urban myth), surely other types of machinery could be taken there.

So leaving out the "cost" factor, what do you think on the following:

Has there been a moon landing?
Why have Russia (or any other country that has astronauts) never gone to the moon?
Would it have been safer to build the space station on the moon?

I'm truely blogging this as a bit of fun!

This gleaned from Wikipdedia: "There are those that allege that the Apollo program landings were faked by NASA with possible CIA support. Believers in this conspiracy theory have been able to group together on the internet and have consolidated their efforts since the 1990s, prompting some media attention. According to a 1999 Gallup poll, about 6% of the population of the U.S. have doubts that the Apollo astronauts walked on the moon. Gallup itself said of this "Although, if taken literally, 6% translates into millions of individuals, it is not unusual to find about that many people in the typical poll agreeing with almost any question that is asked of them -- so the best interpretation is that this particular conspiracy theory is not widespread." Nearly all interested scientists have rejected the claim, considering it to be baseless. In short, the claim (that the moon landings did not occur) is the actual hoax. The landing hoax proponents believe that the Moon landings of Apollo 11 on July 20, 1969 and subsequent missions never happened, but were faked on Earth. The theory grew significantly in popularity after the release of the movie Capricorn One (1978), which portrays a NASA attempt to fake a landing on Mars." Landing on the moon gets my vote otherwise much of my teenage years were an illusion, mind you there are some large gaps in my memory of my teenage years. How long do you think before someone joins in to say they've been abducted by aliens.

The only aliens I know of around here are Alienergy, a sect of Argyll and Bute council. They seem to be similar to those chaps in Star Trek. A good way to spot them is to asking them to describe their emotions in front of some stunning countryside – they haven’t a clue what your on about.

I always have doubt about man landing on the moon.1st from the design of the craft that they used to land. 2nd. who landed 1st the cameraman or armstrong? 3.the light and shadows, the receptions from moon to earth thru tv. 4.how come there is no follow up of stories of the rovers and other material that they left on the moon. 5.how come there is no follow up of landing on the moon it seem that the project was just abandoned after claiming being the first and as long as you beat russia to it.
