Congrats...that's terrific...I wish we had those when I was a lad...ummm...what's a "Foy"? Sounds like a big, somewhat, drunken party. You Scots are the envy of the West.

BBQ food fantastic, music brilliant, weather didn't really matter. Hope to be back next year.

We are working on what it might be like to live on an island. Do they have a lot of sheep on the island.? How many children are there? Do you like living on the island?

About 60 people live on Fetlar. There are quite a lot of sheep and lambs at the moment. There is a museum, a shop, a fire station, a school. Most people live in Houbie. We have a ferry which sails up to 8 times a day to islands called Unst & Yell. There are only 3 primary children in Fetlar at the moment. We have some horses, but we also have Shetland Ponies. Lots of people have crofts (small farms) or work for the council. There are no factories. We like it here. There are lots of birds and some nice beaches. It is very quiet.

Many congrats on a wonderfull and informative web site. Fetlar sounds far removed in comparisson to where i live. Doesnt it get too quiet tho? Do the children enjoy the isolation? What about the future population of Fetlar? Are the youngsters looking to escape and move to the mainland? One last question... HOW OFTEN DOES IT RAIN? lol. All the best, and keep up the good work with this site. I will pop in on occassions to see how the Island of Fetlar is getting on.

Hi there - my girlfriends parents have a cottage in Fetlar which we stay in quite often. The place is great and the people helpful and friendly. The island has a unique charm and is a excellant place to unwind. I would strongly urge anybody who has not been to Fetlar to give it a try. You will not be disappointed. Great photo by the way Nick and brilliant article by Rachel on "the one show". Good luck with the campaign. I will definately see you soon.
