I enjoyed doing the block by this method and got out all the stuff (equipment) I haven鈥檛 used in ages maybe years, rotary cutter, quilters square rule and cutting mat, this gave me the impetus to carry on and finish those ufo鈥檚 I had started years ago, with a very happy and profitable outcome, the fabric in this block is very 鈥榖usy鈥 so I think the quilting will need to be simple, the design is called 鈥淒utchman鈥檚 Puzzle鈥

Journal quilt
Posted: Tuesday, 09 January 2007 |
I went into Stornoway today, I am having a clear out, getting rid of stuff, so took a small suitcase of things I never use to one of the charity shops, it鈥檚 strange how things I never use multiply faster than rabbits,
Thought I鈥檇 post a different sort of quilt, this is last January鈥檚 journal quilt, I haven鈥檛 started this Jan鈥檚 yet, my journal quilts are part of a group project, lots of other people making them too, the idea is for each of us to try something new, with this quilt I wanted to use photoshop but instead of using a photo I wanted to 鈥榩aint鈥 with photshop which is what I did, then layered a sketch over it and printed it on fabric, quilted it and made some beads from strips of fabric and paper, I had lots of fun making it,
Well it鈥檚 the first 2007 meeting of the Lewis quilt group tomorrow evening, no idea what we will be up to probably just catching up on what every one has been doing,

Weather

Well the weather was nice and calm Wednesday and I could do some work in the garden, it was sooo nice to be outside and be able to stand up straight!!!! But now we are back to wind鈥..
The Quilt group meeting went well, we counted the votes for the quilts and An Lanntair will announce the 5 quilts chosen to go to Loch Lomond for the Quilt Exhibition in May, our chairwoman has stood down due to family commitments and so we now have a new chairwoman, I left early as someone had kindly offered me a lift home.
I am part of a postcard swapping group and received a lovely quilty postcard in today鈥檚 post from ,

this 'n' that
Posted: Wednesday, 31 January 2007 |
Well I have not been posting again and have not managed to keep up with reading blogs either, I joined the art group last Saturday and enjoyed it, it was so nice to just draw, must try and do more,
I read this poem on blog and liked it so much I decided to post it on my blog,
"First, lay down your head
then one by one
let go of all distractions.
Embrace the light and let it guide you
beyond the winds of desire.
There you will find a spring and
nourished by its sweet waters
like a tree you will bear fruit forever."
Rumi
to answer a question about the quilted postcards, the textile/quilted postcards are the same size as paper postcards, 4 x 6 inches or if you are on decimal 10 x 15 centimetres, they are sent naked (without an envelope) just like paper postcards, some post offices charge more but others charge regular postcard rates, I have sent and received Textile postcards to many people around the world for more than 3 years now and I just love receiving them,
finished quilting 2 more blocks for the sample quilt, it is interesting how a block can change so much by the fabric colours, one of the interesting things about several of us each making a sample quilt was the different look of the same block pattern in all the different colour combinations people chose, 2 people finished their sample quilts and they were in the Quilt Exhibition at An Lanntair, I will finish mine one day鈥.
