Great Loch Ness Monster there, IT!
Barney from Swithiod a stich in the loch
Fascinating as ever, IT. I had a lovely book about couching using gold bullion and flat gold - the effects were completely spectacular, and used the same techniques of course as your "traditional" samples. I like the bottom bit, you could use all kinds of interesting knitting yarns etc for this! You too have a good weekend.

Very pretty indeed IT, I turned your beautiful piece of work around and I saw a caterpillar, seahorse, oh all kinds of things, simply wonderful. Have a good weekend too.

I have always thought that couching is one of the Cinderellas of stitching. What wonderful effects can be achieved. I agree with you about your bottom...bit...

Lovely and colourful Frances. Have a good weekend too. Hope the sun shines!

Lovely IT! I like the bottom bit best too--like modern art, you can interpret many ways!
thelovelyOutlander from admiring your work
The moment I saw the last one a picture moved across my internal screen .... a lonely sea-shore after a storm ... debris [animal and vegetable] deposited.

Hi, great sample! I chickened out ( sort of) minimal stitch on this one :0

The myriad of ways one can manipulate threads and fabric!! Still woefully ignorant, but a little less so, thanks to IT.

thanks everyone for your lovely comments, I love the way people can see pictures in the couching like pictures in the flames of a fire or clouds in the sky, the middle row of traditional blocks I did in wool I am using up, it was traditionally done in shiny threads, metal threads and silks so the light reflected, this gave the stitches much more depth, guzzisue I saw your little bit of gold couching on the applied petals, very nice, I only did one line of the knotted cretan it didn鈥檛 inspire me at all,

Oooh, I love that freeform couching!
Conni from NJ
You see, another great comment bites the electronic dust...and I was so very inspired by 'freeform couching'...it seemed like just the sort of thing a cat could join in with....

"on the road again" IT? Whereto this time? Hope you are having/have had a great time.
mjc from IN, USA
Do stop nagging mjc! I'm sure IT will blog again when she feels the hand of the muse on her shoulder...or wherever the muse puts her hand...maybe its a paw!
Flying Cat from Tcha!
I got to worrying about IT, FC. Once someone starts painting models in swimming trunks, you never know where the road ends. The possibilities, FC, just think of them!!
mjc from IN, USA
I'm trying very hard not to!
