Weather

Well the weather was nice and calm Wednesday and I could do some work in the garden, it was sooo nice to be outside and be able to stand up straight!!!! But now we are back to wind…..

The Quilt group meeting went well, we counted the votes for the quilts and An Lanntair will announce the 5 quilts chosen to go to Loch Lomond for the Quilt Exhibition in May, our chairwoman has stood down due to family commitments and so we now have a new chairwoman, I left early as someone had kindly offered me a lift home.

I am part of a postcard swapping group and received a lovely quilty postcard in today’s post from ,

Very nice. Interesting concept (quilty postcard). How big are they and how are they sent (in an envelope?)?

Under new opporchancity laws there is no such thing as a chairwoman or an actress ant more.

calumannabel from under a durham quilt ness

Calum.: why Durham? why not Stirling or Shrewsbury? or did you mean "durum"? as in "while eating a durum wheatie ness"? Oh, forget it!!

check article by Jura Koncius today (31 Jan.): With gratitude in every stitch - at Walter Reed (Hospital) wounded soldiers find comfort in donated quilts. Quite heart warming.

Dear mjc I can see your knowledge of quilting isn't up to scratch. Durham Quilting is a particularly fine type involving very intricate stitching. Listen mate you have to read upon these past times if you are going to score at the Fank -a bottle of wine and a pizza is no use to an island woman - they demand conversation on their terms. You should read the Lady magazine or Quilting Gazette and find out how the female mind works. As regards Shrewsbury then that's fine for talking about biscuits and Stirling is fine for talking about Moss. Durum was not intended. Incidentally is Durum Durum a country band from your (red) neck of the woods?

Thank for info. Durham quilting, Calumannabel. I do love quilts, but unfortunately know very little about it (except that I am in awe of good quilters and their products!). # Our neck of the woods is brown. We have two seasons in Nuevo Mexico: brown and browner. As for popular music, we specialize in Mariachi Bands, thank you. # As for the female mind: I read the RHS garden magazine - isn't that good enough? Thanks for advice. At the Fank, I shall rely on matchmakers. # By the way,any news from Coll's Nic? Perhaps his banker turned him down and he could not hustle up the initiation fee?

He's a she. It's a brave man that would try to convert an island woman. I think calumannabel's a bit of a stirrer......

Flying Cat from confused but bearing up

FC: who is the he that's a she? Confused and not baring up, thank you. # I don't think there's any conversion (except dollars into pounds at an extraordinarily disadvantageous rate for Americans) at the Fank. No one saw Rev a Lation (from Jura, if I remember correctly) out there.

Nic. is. a. she. We're 'looking forward' to a season of Brown here in good ol' Blighty.

So, Nic is a she. Hello, Nic, see you sometime. In the meantime, stay a good distance from Lerwick Trevor: he had some cormorant, I fear.
