Mainland experiences

Back from dashing round the mainland. There are times I can recall the attractions of living there but it is just too damn big!
Went down to Essex first and spent the first two days completely unable to make a decision, boy I must have been knackered after the summer. Fortunately my friends let me sit zombie-like, and gradually rehabilitated me by starting with easy questions - would I like more toast? Once I was passed fit I was allowed to move on to Northamptonshire for an eyetest. I reckon to spend 脗拢100 to 脗拢200 a day when I'm away, but buying glasses can only be done after a day with the wallet locked away! I nearly got arrested by smiling at other pedestrians but I remembered just in time.
Then on to Shropshire to see my new nephew. He looks OK (I don't do babies). On to Glasgow for more shopping (a new cooker, blew three days budget in half an hour! We evened it up by searching B&Q for the vitally important gas pipe with no success. Lucky, as back at home with all the fancy protective plastic off we discovered one in the oven!). Then further north to Moidart and more friends. We trekked out to Ardnamurchan lighthouse, climbed 150 steps and were rewarded with a very fuzzy view of Coll. On a clear day the view would be fantastic. The lighthouse exhibition was great and so was the carrot cake!
Moidart is very nice and the trees were changing colour so we got our fix of autumn, but they don't have proper sea (too calm and enclosed) and Rum and Eigg are the wrong shape! I thought we were having a building boom on Coll, but we are way behind them. Seemed every fourth house had scaffolding up.

Comments now available

Yup. I can now post comments. I鈥檓 not sure if it was tweaking at the 91热爆 end or whether I can give my other half the credit. When it comes to computers he is the geeky techie bit, and I鈥檓 the creative part. I do blogs and chatty emails and use Word, (and play games, if I think Age of Empires is great, but it is getting boring what should I try next?) and he speeds up download times, installs spyware and puts new ink in the printer! (He also has a timeshare on Ebay) But when we got home our virus detector (caution: advert break) Norton needed more money, and because we are going to get broadband soon (!) and it is more dangerous (!) he upgraded the subscription. So now we have a Norton firewall, and not a Windows XP firewall, and now I can post comments. So now he tells me all I had to do was click the blue and green world button (bottom right corner, except it isn鈥檛 there anymore) and disable it, and everything would have been fine! The only thing worse than having a problem is someone telling you how easy it is to fix, after you鈥檝e been driven bonkers trying to get the answer, but got there in the end! So I鈥檓 half hoping Mike got the comments fixed instead.
Off now to leave a message with Brian.
