Community hall

Last night there was a presentation from Karen the architect for our new hall. She had already shown the plans to the high school kids in Oban, the junior kids saw them this morning and she hopes to show them to the Coll Association in Glasgow next week. And they are on a website somewhere, but I can't find the address (sorry). So this is going to be a very well-consulted about hall. Last night we wondered if the kitchen was big enough and whether the car park could double up as a play area for the kids, so we are all taking this very seriously. I hope Karen doesn't disappear under too much feedback, but it is great to see some progress.
Elsewhere, the sailing club has ordered some boats and hopes to have an open day in the spring and rumour has it the airport needs a security fence, but the windsock is back. My New Year resolution is to get the cover back on the polytunnel and grow something, so I am now allowed to look at seed catalogues. Except I have just bought a book on photoshop (an amazon fix again) so I am trying to justify spending more time at the computer and less time actually doing anything. Roll on the rainy days (I don't believe I actually think that!).

Nic, after the great job you did on the Coll Magazine website, I doubt you need justify your time spent on the computer, to anyone! :)

All the best re: hall # Why do you need a security fence around airport? Sounds rather expensive. # I'll look forward to the products of your hard work getting a stranglehold on Photoshop. However, don't wait too long to get your seeds, polytunnel functional etc.: fresh salad ...

Hi AC, thanks for the compliment but I will have to get it redirected, the website was nothing to do with me (apart from a bit of proofing). However the website to get a look at the plans can be got from developmentcoll.co.uk The security fence isn't to keep refugees out but to stop people walking on the runway.

Spoilsports! In t'good old days, one could wander freely down 15/33 Sumburgh runway without let or hindrance...after hours of course. And, if feeling truly adventurous, could cross 33 during operational time if the red light above the control tower was off. Walking was particularly pulse-raising, as the light could come on when you were part-way accross! (And the Coll Magazine website is well worth a visit)

Congratulations to all concerned in the creation of the website of the Coll Magazine and no small feat achieved in the bit of proofing either! you have the patience of a saint dear lady. :) I doubt I could have had the patience to do similar.

What's the Coll magazine website address? I googled and did not have luck. I would like to see for myself what made AC call NIc a saint (something we take seriously in the Holy Roman Catholic Church!!) # Just curious: what's the average monthly landings /take offs at Coll International, Nic? What's the runway length?

mjc from NM,USA

Hi mjc Runway is 500 metres short. Average number of planes with paying passengers = nought. Service starts early spring, return fare Connel to Coll will be 拢65. Coll mag can be found at www.collmagazine.co.uk I'm sure I ought to be able to do this as a proper link. I'm looking for contributions for this year's mag - any offers? Ac, I didn't do much proofing, and absolutely nobody who works with me would call me patient (or a saint)! FC the runway has no lights, I'm not sure the light on the windsock would inspire quite the same reaction!

A CAA licence would be a good start...but will it be awarded?

65 quid from Connell to Coll, return. On demand? Does that price include life insurance for passengers? My life may not be worth much, but it's worth something .... I think. What's the return price for the ferry to Oban?
