I expect the squid is fried and served as appetizer? Fresh squid so prepared would be delicious. So it would too prepared Chinese style. You seem to serve awfully good stuff at your hotel, NiconColl. By the way, did you run the 10k on Coll?
mjc from NM,USA
Hi mjc, the 5k, 10k and half marathon are on Sat 25th. And there is NO WAY I am doing anything even remotely resembling a jog. I stopped running when I got a car and didn't need buses anymore. But, fool that I am, I suggested we did a post-marathon breakfast on Sunday, a popular suggestion with everybody but my Sunday morning assistant, so that should keep me busy. PS the squid were coated in salt, pepper and cornflour and flash-fried in a hot wok. If only all cooking was so quick and easy.

Thanks for the cookery tip Nic...the Saint Delia of Coll...I vote for Nic to be canonised. We here at Rolling Acres are going to give that reciept a go.

FC of the Roiling Acres: let's not get carried away by Protestant enthusiasm here. One step at a time. For the fast track to canonization, NiconColl would have to belong to Opus Dei: do you, Nic?
mjc from NM,USA
Is Opus Deli like Stromness Deli (which is for sale and please the owner of the Berneray Shop, don't even think of it!), full of goodies and delicious things?
Flying Cat from on mother kelly's doorstep
Goodies and delicious things? You must be thinking of the Vatican cantina. No FC, Opus Dei is more into self-mortification, and a mania for secrecy that would put the old Free Masons to shame. # Have a good weekend, y'all.
mjc from NM,USA
Self mortification sounds a solitary habit, and I'm a sociable creature. I don't know much about saints, but they don't strike me as very good company so I'd rather not join their ranks, but thanks anyway FC.
Nic from Coll
Quite right Nic. For one thing they're all sort of dead which isn't a great recommendation. I can't think what came over me. I've heard that one R Kelly wears a barbedwire garter as her contribution to the common weal...
Flying Cat from old habits
She (RK) may, FC, but how can one be sure, without a peek? [No, I am NOT volunteering!]. I wonder whether the garter is black? 'tis my favorite color for such things.

Oh do stop it mjc! You'll just give AnnieB more ideas for her CoutureBodach section...the frillies were bad enough!

Why is it, I think there is always a code behind your blogs niconcoll, I can never make sense of any of them and on the rare occasion when I do, the comments are confusing. Are we? as Island living and loving people living on different planets? Fair Question I believe from one IB to another IB? Still, I suppose the Hotel is s-quids in, with all of your seemingly inane chatter and those on the seemingly different planets appear to know what they are blogging about, which is more than I can say for the rest of the world.
Ac from littleornoapparentsenseofhumour.com
Oh dear, AC looking for another mano a mano, or is it free for all? TWS, are you referee-ing, or a participant? # No, AC, the hotel is not on skids. The food in the restaurant is reputedly out of this world (yes, NiconColl, I expect that 20% discount). Some of it is grown by Nic under plastic using the latest organic methods, and Nic even reads aloud to them whatever is on the menu at the local Readers' Club. And, anyway, who are you, AC, to call Nic's kettle names?
mjc from NM,USA
I am positive that, even if he wishes it so, AC does NOT speak for 'the rest of the world'! Nic is never inane. Nor confusing. The 'from' field was correctly filled in though...which explains a lot. I begin to wonder if AC is a disgruntled pubgoer. In which case, best not go there...

PETER FROM ISLAY from ISLAY
Hi Peter, thought you might like to know your efforts on the west end verges worked and the road is beautifully wide enough to overtake 75% of all cyclists (best not to mention the other 25%). If you fancy some freelance work you could volunteer to repair the east end road, which is not at all well.
