Quick Guide

1. Add New Act - Start by typing an act name in the blank Name box. As you start typing, a list of Acts will appear below the Name box. (If your Act does not appear it means it doesn't have a MusicBrainz ID.)

Select the correct Act and this will automatically complete the MusicBrainz ID. If you are adding a non-Music Act (e.g. a comedian or actor), you can add a Wikipedia URL rather than a MusicBrainz ID. Use the blue Check link to confirm the correct Act has been added. Once complete, click the green Add button. Your Act will now appear as a blue link.

Acts are not public at this stage, so add as many as you like. Simply start typing in the blank Name box. The list of Acts will appear in alphabetical order. You can add them to a Line Up later.

2. Add Act Information - Click the blue act link to add Act Information. On the following form you have several optional blank fields to fill in.

  • Act Name - This doesn't have to match the MusicBrainz name. This is useful if there are multiple Artists in the Act.
  • Primary Image PID - This is the main image for this Act, it appears at the top of the Act page, and in other places throughout the site. .
  • Headline - Displayed as an H2 heading on the Act page, below the Primary Image.
  • Short Description - This will appear on aggregation pages. Keep it short and catchy.
  • Long Description - An editorially perfect biography/description of the Artist. This works best if it's NOT a factual/Wikipedia style biography.

3. Add Additional Act (Optional)

This section is only relevant to music Acts, this is where you add additional MusicBrainz Artists to the Act. This is useful if your Act has guest performers joining them.

Navigate to the Artists sub-heading and click the blue Add artist button. In the drop-down form, fill in the blank details. Select a Performance Role from the drop-down menu (Featured Artist will be the most common option).

4. Edit Options

You can now add an additional information to the Options section of the Act page.

  • Similar Acts – This section allows you to provide onward journeys to other Acts within the site. Click the blue Add Act button and select similar Acts from the Event and Act pulldown menus.
  • Module Options – Tick the boxes if you want to include automated modules on your Act page. For Music artists this will be biographies, reviews and links; for non-Music artists these are wikipedia links.

5. Add Performance Information

This section will be empty until you've added the Act to the Line-Up. .

If you know the start and end times of the performance you can add them in the blank fields.

6. Add Act Page

At the top of the Edit Act page, there are two switches to help you control which bits of data about your Act are exposed to the public.

The Act Has No Page switch toggles whether the Act has a dedicated Act Page or not.

7. Make Act Public

The Act Not Public switch toggles whether the Act page is exposed to the public or not.

Set the switch to Act Public to make your Act page public.

N.B. Your Act page won't appear in the Line Up until it's public, even if you've added it to the Line Up. If an Act is public, but not added to the Line Up, it will appear on the Line Up page under "Stage TBA".

8. Add Media

Once you have content from your Event, you can add it to an Act page under the Media heading.

  • Photo Gallery PID – You can add one Photo Gallery to the Act page. Enter the PID in the blank field. .
  • Media Clips – You can add as many video or audio Clips as you want to the page. Click the blue Add clip button and enter the Clip PID in the blank field. .

N.B. Video Clips published to the appropriate matching brand/series PID are pulled in automatically, if they have the matching MusicBrainz Credit added. Clips that are added manually aren't duplicated, but will be prioritised above automatic clips.

9. Add Set List

To add a Set List to your Act Page, click on the blue Add work button under the Set List heading.

In the following form you can add a Title, Original Artist, Record Id, MusicBrainz ID, Notes and Perfomer details. Once complete, click the blue Done button. Add additional works by repeating this process.

Add interval details using the blue Add Interval button.

N.B. With your works added, use the buttons on the right of the page to Edit, Delete or Reorder.

10. Add Episodes

Click on the blue Add episode button and then paste the Episode PID into the blank field. Episode information will appear in a side bar on your Act Page.
