Structure
It is important to think about structure when creating your own music.
Structure refers to the way music is arranged and ordered in a composition. Use your knowledge of music in order to consider structure and experiment with it in a creative way.
Binary form
Binary form is a good structure to choose for your composition to show contrast in your music. You may choose to repeat section A and repeat section B. There could be some small rhythmic, melodic or harmonic developments during the repeat.
Ternary form
Choosing ternary form as a structure for your composition allows you to revisit section A at the end of your piece. When you repeat section A you could try to vary it in some way by doing something slightly different with the melody, rhythm or harmony.
Rondo
Creating a piece of music that uses a rondo structure can be a more complex. This form will allow you to develop a greater amount of different sections and therefore allow you to create a longer piece of music. Remember to keep coming back to the 鈥楢鈥 section.
Here is a famous Rondo by Mozart, played by Daniel Ciobanu. Listen for the 鈥楢鈥 section returning between all of the other sections.
