Stop a moment
Please do
Look closely
Not of knights
In armour
Nor of saints
Looking down.

Instead we see
Ordinary folk
The salt of the earth
Whose daily life
Harsh it could be
End yet another day.

As they leave
The shipyard
Another day
To come.

Thoughts had they
And ambitions too
Families to feed
Pennies were few.

A night by the fire
A bedtime story
For some youngster
As the bedroom
window view
Shows dad's
Place of work
And Uncles
And brothers
All there too.

Life is depicted
In many a scene
And yet captured here
In coloured glass
Within a cathedral
What of life?
Here is you.
