I Want..........

I was brought/dragged up in a city ( a sprawling council estate, on the outskirts) we used to go out in oor wellies, and go to the golf course with a tray to slide down the hillsides. Great fun, as well as snowball fights, that could last for hours, with adults joining in. I want snow too.

I want it to snow too. The kind of snow that has the huge fat flakes falling from windless skies, sticks to everything and muffles the sounds of the world to a distant hiss. Maybe the kind of snow where you have to wear your wellies or it goes down your shoes into your socks....

Wish I had your gift of being able to paint magical pictures with words!

We'll probably get the horizontal hard variety that gives anyone brave enough to be out in it red cheeks...

You'll have snow, I am sure, and maybe even feet of it before the daffodils and the crocuses come up again. Hermit, I am happy you have such wonderful memories.

I think we will get a cold winter with snow this year. My forefathers looked at the Milky Way and I have learnt from them. If I am right, there will be no snow around Christmas or Jul as we say, but January, February and most of March will be white.Snow is a part of our lives up here in the North, and like you, Hermit, I love it.
Dag from Norway
Currently in Finland for a while. Plenty of snow here; deep and thick and falling in clumps. Oh, and billions of trees as well.
Digital Sands from Berneray ... though not at the moment
Well, I'm nearly guaranteed a bit o snow, cos I'm goin to Norway for Christmas. However, I have to say I'm not quite so chuffed aboot the white stuff, cos I'm told that I MUST try skiing. Oh dear. I think my Sense of Adventure must be hibernating. Any tips anyone?

Oh lucky Digi...super-uber-lucky Digi!!! Billions of trees and every one well over 2 metres I'll be bound. Ruth, the trick is, you must make sure to fall into the arms of Arne every time you take a tumble... What a fun it will be...I hope...

Having spent more than one workday shifting the stuff you are all welcome to my share. I will be content with pretty christmas card and calendar depictions of the nasty, cold wet stuff.

carol from two days to go
FC and Mia, thanks for the advice, tho I confess I was looking for something a bit more technical. And I don't really think falling into Arne's arms is realisitc - he is more likely to be creased up laughing himself silly at me!

What I want to know is whatever happened to Trevor? He is not off to NZ, is he, to raise objections to the forthcoming marriage in Coromandel, is he? Come on Trev., let's hear from you. Hope you are in good health and spirits.

He just used us and then, after we had poured out a stream of ib sympathy and support, he's dropped us. I feel used. Emotionally drained. Exhausted. Can't take any more...

J Clarkson did a bit about skiing in 'On Cars' where he suggests you need to think as if you were driving, your legs are shock absorbers and you have to remember you can only go forward, left or right. Still think the bar in the lodge is the best place to be!
mia from staying clear of housework
Mia, thanks, that's the sort of advice I'm looking for......
