I need a tail extender

I need a tail extender for poor Elsie-yow. Her tail is so short that her tender little...eh...neither regions are totally exposed to sun, wind and biting bugs!!
I need to find a tail extender - something thick and heavy enough to stay in place but light enough that she can lift it up with her tail stub. I think wool would be best but how would I take raw oo and make a bum cape??
Hmmm. I'm thinking I can tie it to her oo above her tail stub and it can lie over the stub and dangle down over her woowoo. Then when she lifts her tail to do her business the fake tail will rise as well! I can change it out as needed. (Or...when I can catch her!!)
Any ideas??

Knit one using Arran wool on three sock needles to get the tube effect. Knit to the right length and slip the wee tail into the open end. Sew it loosly to the lambs wee woolly bum. Best make a few replacements too.

Dag nab it! That has to be the BEST sounding solution - and I have no idea how to knit. Arrrrg!!!
(Elsie's bum is wooly - but not wee! She has a lovely big Texel bum!)
