We met through the newspaper two years ago...

Two years ago Erlend and I met through "The Orcadian." It was a cold dark winter in Alaska and I never would have imagined that I was going to meet my soul mate and move to an island in Scotland!!

In my quest for a pen-pal I ended up with a husband!

Two years - wow! Time flies!!

Not much has changed then, other than location, Still dark, cold and wintery nights, at least you have someone nice to cuddle up to.

Well...I no longer have -40 weather (or colder) or an outhouse (we have flush toilets here!) and I do not have to spend half an hour digging my car out of the snow and scraping two inches of ice off of every window. And...I no longer have snow from September - May !!!!!!! (I can acctually see the ground ... and green grass!!) However, we have the long daylit summers, the Merry Dancers and those beautiful pink Fireweed flowers!! And we have the same sense of space and no city-crowding. Orkney has the best of Alaska withoot the worst of Alaska!!!
