What a clever dog! How's Henry? I'm hoping you walked to Skibhoul.

Use "sheep nut bags. You go like a rocket." If you say so. I assume (innocently enough) that it is not what is in those nut bags, but the bags themselves, that make you go like a rocket. The secrets those northern isles hold: it boggles the (naive, American) mind. Maybe Scallowawife will enlighten me. By the way (referring, for efficiency's sake, to another blog/ message), I assume a "smooriken" is a kiss/smooch/ kuss/ baiser/ etc etc?

well done. no it is not a smooch. just a kiss. and yes you feed the nuts to the sheep first, then you're left with a robust plastic bag (lots of eco problems disposing of it too) - and of course its not real nuts, its pellot shaped feed, might be sugar beet or it could be a mixture of grains. there's a whole industry of these things - salesmen go round selling different kinds of pellots/nuts licks, etc. different compositions and prices. its quite fascinating - I'm telling you 'YOU NEED TO KNOW ALL ABOUT SHEEP'

The photos look good mum! I esp like No.1- very xmasy and cosy. Say hi to Mac for me. Yeah a smooriken is a kiss. xxxxx - Like so!

I'm sorry, I like to be a fair-minded cat, but 'clever'? CLEVER? a) it's a dog and b) he's eating snow. I rest my case.

I would never settle for just one smooriken. Where I come from, smoorikens come in threes. Stingy northern islanders, that's what I say. If a smooriken is worth having, three would do just as well.

Sorry cat, but that dog is clever. You should see what he does when he's told to go to the bath. Cleverer than any cat.

Ruthodanort's lass - I hear you've been freed from Yell and are now back at school in Unst. My lasses envious o your time off school. We never get enough snow to shut schools for more than one day tops if ever.
Rachondarox from Lancs
Ruthadonort's lass: how come you "got stuck" on Yell? Do you go to High School (American jargon for upper secondary) there, and could not make it home through sleet and snow, over river and through woods (any woods in Yell or Unst?)? Good to hear you are back feeding on your mum's bannocks and cranachan. Leave some for the b.c.: have you ever thought of having a labrador?

Take my word for it, Ruthadonort's lass: smoorikens are bad for your health.

mjc- Baltasound Junior High School in Unst is a far superior school, and there is no wye any self-respecting Unst bairn wid go tae the Mid Yell School.
Ruthodanort from Unst
Of course, for Junior High. I had thought that perhaps there was no Senior High ( O and A levels- "upper secondary" as I indicated in my note) in Unst and Ruthodanort's lass might have had to go to Yell (which may have one, as it is conceivably a more populous place). I am certain Baltasound Junior High School is the very best!!.
