A request from Barcelona

I thought some of you may be interested in the following email I received. Perhaps you can help?

Dear friends from 91热爆-Scotland and Island Blogging,

My name is Jaume and I'm a Catalan screenwriter from Barcelona aged 29 trying to gather some information about the Orkney Islands and people living there. I've been asking in some English and Irish Pubs in Barcelona and I wasn't lucky for the moment. Let me explain you a couple of things about my project.

I'm starting to work in a story about a Catalan girl who suddenly finds out that her grandmother had a Scottish boyfriend 60 years ago. Even though the old lady is losing her memory, the girl manages to get some information about this old story: the Scottish guy was a ship skipper and he met the protagonist's grandmother in Barcelona after the Spanish war (1936-1939). Besides, she will find out that her father was born from this relationship, even though he doesn't want to know the truth at all. I have some questions on this issue: In which Island/city could this skipper have lived? I put him provisionally in Stromness, but I don't know if I made a good choice. Could you suggest any other better city for him? Why?

This girl is all the time crossing her path with a boy (they don't know each other at all... yet) who is dying for leaving Barcelona and travelling to Scotland to work as a doctor. Do you know some city/place in the Orkney Islands where (stranger) doctors are needed/requested? Would it sound believable to you?

I'm trying to connect with someone (a teacher, a journalist, whatever...) to whom I can make these important questions for developing my work. Any comment or suggestion would make me really happy.

Best regards from Barcelona. By the way, your ISLAND BLOGGING is terrific!
