Aye, that's Carol for you, proving, once again, that you don't have to be Welsh or Lutheran to be able to sing.

The Carols are coming hurrah hurrah!
Flying Cat from how many carols does it take...
I *love* singing Carol ... I sing along, at full gusto, to most things, rock, pop, opera, classical, and I even sing away in italian with Il Divo, often wondered whether a native would understand me, as I don;t speak a word of Italian, but can sing the same sounds that they do ...! I've been singing away all day to Radio 2 today ... And the only way I stayed sane whilst driving to work from Jn 24 of M1 (Nottm) to Jn 10 of M1 (Luton-ish) every day was by having a CD stacker in the boot, and singing along at the top of my voice ...! If I am honest though, I'm not sure it would be properly appreciated if I did it in public ...!

soaplady: when i was in my last year at school all pupils from the three years were members of the school choir except me! but since joing a choir here in 1999 --by chancae singing gospel with friends who sang really well they said come with us-i've learned anyone can sing with training-its really great fun i think once you learn that you dont sing from the back of your throat but through the bottom of your abdomen its incredible the progress you can make!

That is very true Carol...if only many many so-called music 'teachers' had believed it, there would be far fewer people out there scared to open their mouths for fear of ridicule.

Oh Carol (as it were) I'm very jealous of your singing antics. On a trip to Somerset last year with the 'Orkney village' we enjoyed a cultural exchange with the local folk - they gave us the Wurzels, we gave them Calum Kennedy - and after three pints of cider I think I can sing. I can't. I massacred 'These are My Mountains' and Calum span in his grave. *blushing with shame*. Anyway, you all look like you're having fun, and I bet you sound terrific!
Stromness Dragon from Preaching to the choir
i agree FC: choirmaster always tells us to sing from deep down and its funny since being in phsiotherapy since 2006 pascal, phillipe and richard the three phsio's have gave me special breathing excercises and its incredible the results its had on my voice i can hold nots sor much longer,so if anyone wants to sing but don't think they can-get in touch with your local choir, learn simple breathing techniques and have a lot of willpower and enjoy yourself!
