Kyles of Bute Hydro

The may be no more, but little pieces remain around the grounds if you are willing to negotiate the undergrowth. At the bottom of the gardens, through the old pathways of rhododendron, lies the remains of swings and a fountain:

Swans

Swans at Ardbeg/Port Bannatyne

One of the families of swans that inhabit the island. I wonder if anyone has tried to count how many there are as I usually see one pair or family at each bay or beach, at least down the sheltered east side of the island. These swans wore rings on their legs so someone is keeping a track of them. This family was taken at the join between Port Bannatyne and Ardbeg.

Trident and Bute

Trident Submarine with Bute in Background


A Trident submarine slices through the sea in front of Bute like a shark's fin. The Trident program was back in the news recently as its future upgrading was announced.
