and Glasshouse at Wentworth Castle coming in third.
On
behalf of everybody, on behalf of Victoria Baths, thanks to the
supporters and advocates of our buildings and thanks most of all
to the viewers for watching and voting.
Jane
Root, Controller of 91热爆 TWO, said: "Restoration has really
captured the public's imagination and I've been thrilled by the
level of interest that this programme has generated, particularly
in local communities who have been vigorously campaigning to save
their own building and piece of history.
"The
viewers' vote has decided which building is most worthy of restoration,
but in fact all the buildings are winners.
"The
series has reignited a passionate interest in our heritage, with
a huge increase in the number of visitors to these buildings, and
we hope that many more of them will go on to be restored to their
former glory."
Liz
Forgan, Chair of the Heritage Lottery Fund which has donated 拢3
million towards the winning building, said: "Restoration has
shown just how passionate people really are about their local heritage.
The Heritage Lottery Fund supports projects like this right across
the UK and so it was delighted to set aside 拢3 million for
The Restoration Fund to help rescue the viewers' favourite building.
"Now
that we have a winner, the hard work really starts. We will be working
with the Fund to make sure that the public's dream for Victoria
Baths becomes a reality, opening it up for everyone to enjoy."
