The nation votes for Mavisbank

Restoration results from third programme revealed

Speaking from the Tower of London, Griff Rhys Jones revealed last night (Tuesday 19 August) that the nation had chosen Mavisbank in Edinburgh to be the third building to go through to the final of the 91热爆 TWO series Restoration.

Last Friday, in the third programme of the ten-part series, Griff called on viewers to choose between Mavisbank and two other buildings - The Lino Works in Kirkcaldy and The Britannia Music Hall in Glasgow.

Information on all three buildings is available through the website on .

Mavisbank is one of the country's earliest neo-classical houses.

The very first Palladian villa to be built in Scotland, it is considered to be of huge architectural importance.

Sadly in 1973 it was ravaged by fire and remains in a derelict condition.

Last night's result means Mavisbank will be one of ten buildings to be featured in the live final at the Tower of London in mid-September.

Here a nationwide vote will decide which building should be given a new lease of life with money raised throughout the course of the series.

Colin McLean, Heritage Lottery Fund Manager for Scotland, said: "This handsome building demonstrates the important contribution Scotland has made to the world of architecture, and we are delighted that it has reached the final.

"The Heritage Lottery Fund is keen to open up the heritage to as many people as possible so this week pledged 拢3 million towards The Restoration Fund to help restore the winning building, which ever one that may be."

Last night three more buildings, from the South West of England, were featured for viewers to choose between - the Whitfield Tabernacle in Kingswood; Poltimore House in Exeter; and Arnos Vale Cemetery in Bristol.

Friday's edition of Restoration (22 August) will reveal which of these will become the fourth building to go through to the final.

Lines are now open and viewers can vote by calling 0901 077 77 77.

Restoration is produced by Endemol UK Productions for 91热爆 Scotland and currently transmits on 91热爆 TWO on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9.00pm.

Restoration voting lines are open for three days for each programme from 2.00am on the day prior to transmission until midnight on the day after.
