Sally Phillips
Sally Phillips is fast coming into her own as leading comedy actress.
She first hit the screens playing a variety of characters on Lee and Herring’s Fist Of Fun show. She found roles in comedies and sketch shows, and struck gold with a perfect performance as Sophie in .
Despite being a support character, her dealings with Alan Partridge made for some of the best laughs in the series.
Smack The Pony provided a golden opportunity for Sally - collaborating with Doon Mackichan and Fiona Allen - to demonstrate just how talented she is.
Next up was the sit-com Hippies. Despite the fact Sally co-starred with rising star Simon Pegg, the series never quite found an audience.
Being cast as Shazza in Bridget Jones Diary was a high point, though the role didn’t exploit her considerable talents. The lead role in Rescue Me put that right.
