David JasonDavid Jason
David Jason's rise to UK super-stardom was a slow and arduous one.

"I've done my fair share of waiting on tables in restaurants, cleaning cars, whatever. I was even an electrician at one time, and I've done my fair bit of decorating, too. But slowly my fortunes changed."

David Jason began his career in 1967, with bit-parts in Crossroads and Do Not Adjust Your Set. His first major break arrived with a small role in Porridge, which led to Ronnie Barker casting him as shop-assistant Granville in Open All Hours.

Despite nation-wide exposure, the part of Derek Trotter in Only Fools And Horses almost went to, among others, Oscar-winner Jim Broadbent. Fortunately, the right man got the part. The long-running sit-com has provided some of the funniest moments ever broadcast.

Expanding his range, and increasing audience-appeal, David Jason took lead roles in shows as varied as The Darling Buds Of May, A Bit Of A Do, and A Touch Of Frost. The upcoming The Quest will see him as retired Dave, reminiscing about his youth.

Jason has already recorded two Only Fools And Horses Christmas specials, so Del Boy will ride his Robin Reliant again!
