The 91热爆 Tees/TJFA Recognition Award

The recognition award is given each week on 91热爆 Tees Sport, Thursdays between 7.30pm and 8pm, when Alastair Brownlee and the Teesside Junior Football Alliance give a special pat on the back to a team that's achieved something great this week.

February 5th Winner - Beechwood Youth Under 15 Team

Beechwood Youth Under 15's travelled to 21st Allstars in the TJFA Challenge Cup to see who would progress into the Quarter Final stages, they had travelled over to 21st Allstars last season and were soundly "thumped" by eight goals to one. So Beechwood can't have been relishing the thought of going back over to Darlington again at this stage of the competition.

Unbelievably, with great strikes from around the edge of the box, Beechwood went into an astonishing three goal lead and although Allstars pulled a goal back, some superb "two-touch" football from Beechwood saw them net another three times to see them march into the quarter finals.

February 12 Winner - Dave and Rita Foster

Chris Ord from the Tees Junior Football Alliance writes "Ferryhill Town were formed back in 1994 by a guy called Stephen (Gus) Hopper and Dave Foster. They started off in the Bishop Auckland (Northern Echo) League and stayed there until the League folded in 1996. The Club actually started out under the name of Ferryhill Youth Club until they received "backing" off the local council and changed their name to Ferryhill Town Boys, but they then got told that that was "sexist" and they reformed as Ferryhill Town Youth and introduced girls into the Club for the first time.

"Both Dave Foster and his wife (Rita) have been unbelievably dedicated in bringing football to life in Ferryhill and have some amazing honours and awards to their names."

February 26 - Dermot and Eileen Speight

Dermot and Eileen Speight have supplied the trophies to the TJFA for the past eleven years for their Presentation Evenings at The Tall Trees and for the Cup Finals at Rockcliffe Park but there is much more to this than meets the eye!

The League require around 2,000 glittering trophies of the highest possible quality for their League Awards and around another 1,000 medals for their Cup Final Day. That, in itself, is a monumental task but when you consider the standard of trophies required by the League, it becomes even more of a logistical nightmare. Well, Dermot and Eileen achieve the end result with a professionalism and friendliness which means that the whole task of the procurement and delivery to both establishments is met without any cause for concern. Remember, this is only a two person business!

It is the service which stands out. Dermot often holidays abroad taking in the sights of Singapore, China and Hong Kong. At least he tells Eileen it is a holiday, as many of the days spent at each location are utilised to look at the manufacturers newest trophy designs to ensure the League keep pace with the latest designs and upgrades to both crystal and resin manufacture.

Demot delivers all of the selected trophies to the Presentation Evening ceremonies and assists us in setting them all out on each of the three days. This equates to at least a three hour task every day. On top of that he attends each evening so that any damages or breakages caused by the successful youngsters are instantly replaced without any cause for concern.

A perfect example of a Recognition Award for people "behind the scenes" as it were.
