It has been a real mixture of both teams going for it and trying to win the game.

In the second-half Sporting were much the better team.

But in extra time, Arsenal took control of the game and could have easily won with two headers from Gabriel, including one cleared off the line.

This will be the first shootout at the Emirates. A proper test of nerve for a place in the last eight.

West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes, speaking to BT Sport: "I'm really pleased. It's not something that happens every year and I'm pleased for the players and the football club and delighted to say I've got to two [European] quarter-finals in two years.

"I thought we started well and should have got the lead earlier. The result in Cyprus a week ago made a big difference. I wanted to get the goal to put it to bed and we blew them away in the second half.

"I'm really pleased Jarrod Bowen got two, Gianluca Scamacca got a goal with young Divin getting a goal. It's great when you give players the opportunity to play. Becoming a professional player is really difficult and you've dedicated your career since eight or nine years old to get to this level.

"Divin, with his energy and running, excites every time and Levi [Laing] and Pottsy [Freddie Potts] also came on. Hopefully it inspires the rest of the Academy that if you're good enough you will get your chance.

"It will be some time off for the players then we get ready to go again. It's a really important period coming up - we have a lot to look forward to."

On who he wants in Friday's quarter-final draw, he says: "The big thing is travelling. Travelling to Cyprus was difficult, playing Thursday, Sunday is not easy and travelling makes a big difference so we hope we play someone that's not too far away."

It ends level. Phew, what a 120 minutes those were.

That is a very clear, blatant late challenge on Bukayo Saka there. It is not a red card but it is clearly a second yellow.

The referee allows play to momentarily continue and then comes back to show the Sporting man a second yellow and then a red.

Sporting quickly whip off Marcus Edwards and sub on Mateo Tanlongo.

WHAT A SAVE!

Arsenal swing a free-kick into the middle and Gabriel plants a header on target. Antonio Adan gets down superbly to tip the ball up and on to the roof of the net.

Another good opening goes to waste!

Leandro Trossard sees the ball break to him in the box but instead of making sure he finds a colleague he rolls the ball blindly behind him and Sporting clear.

Five minutes to go. Arsenal are the side pushing for that winner. Sporting seem happy to sit back and wait for maybe one last chance on the break.

That is a tough one from Thomas Partey because he wants to hit it with his right foot. To do so he has to get his body around the ball and in doing so whips it wide of the goal.

A big chance inside the first of those remaining 15 minutes. A ball from the right breaks for Thomas Partey but he fires his shot wide.

Fifteen minutes more to settle this or we go to penalties.
