had to go to Stornoway again this morning, I only had a couple of things to do so lots of time left while waiting for the next bus home, I spent some of it in the library where I found a book by , daughter of the painter who metored (found a link but the photos are very small and do not do justice to his work) whom I mentioned below, back to the book lots of ideas for 'mark making' so I'll try some and see if it works when I do it!

when I came out of the library I wandered around camera in hand trying to find an interesting photo for my and thought I'd share with you a couple of the others, as you can see there was a blanket of cloud

and just a few small boats

I also took photos of a couple of the papers I did yesterday I don't like most of them but this one I do like,

and this is passable,

it's going to be interesting next week seeing what Jane thinks I should be doing with them, I'm not comfortable with this working in the dark......

I love those papers IT, unreservedly. What (if anything) happens next?

Flying Cat from fandabbydozey!

IL, nice photos and great artwork especially considering you did it with the lights out and the blinds drawn....

Barney from Swithiod with admiration

thanks, what happens next? is what I do not know, I am supposed to be using them in my project but until weds when Jane tells me the next stage I don't know!! I have thought of how I would like to do some other work with this idea (when I get time), spent most of today digging out grass from around plants....ugh

See, barqueing, I told you so over on that nice otter's blog: this is IT's blog Barney, not IL's. Lights out and blinds drawn eh? You were thinking of calling in to Stornoway weren't you? Better get the disguise ready now...

How much whisky did you drink before making your papers blindfold and standing on your head ? Photographs excellent, though.

Jimmy Picasso from Under the table

You can tell you live near the sea! Both these papers are very remniscent of water. The second already looks like a painting in its own right. Years ago I did a workshop and we were set an exercise to make marks. We had to think of opposites so that if one mark was hard the next was soft, wavy/straight, spiky/smooth, light/dark, thick/thin, wide/narrow etc

Julie Mackinder from Grantham

Thanks for all supportive comments they are much appreciated, Fc I do not know what Jane is going to suggest I do next I'm a bit apprehensive as Jane used painted papers in her latest collection of work so I hope she is not going to suggest I do something along the same lines as I do not want to do copies!!! No way!! anyway tomorrow (by the time this is published it will be today) Wednesday I go to Jane's studio and we will see what happens, Julie I have done the sort of mark making you describe when I was doing C&G P&Q near Bristol and yes that was years ago too, Fc I think Barney's remarks about lights out are because I said I was working in the dark…….so you can retract the claws but it’s nice to know your on my side :o)

Sincere appologies, IT, be so kind as to excuse the occassional lapse of an aged persons brain cell. EFfCee, if IT, repeat IT, did it in the dark, then surely the LWO and the BWD?? Be careful or I may reroute to Stromness.

Barney from Swithiod Uncle Alxheimer calling IT

You mean you're not visiting Stromness Uncle Axel Heimer? That's taken the wind out of my sails...My dainty claws are retracted, but I'm keeping an eye on you Uncle...

Flying Cat from Sailing By

Barney appologies accepted, this aged person hadn't noticed you called me IL till IB's young feline pointed it out, oh to have the clarity of young eyes,

IT from lewis
