Rock art in the Western Isles - fab! Those hunter/gatherers went everywhere, did everything. The stuff here is abundant but confusing. The stuff in Portugal recently discovered in the Coa valley has been given an interpetation integrated into the everyday life of the poeple who made the carvings. Check out: http://worldheritage.heindorffhus.dk/frame-PortugalRockArtCoa.htm for more inspiration!

How lovely these are! I like your favourite shape, it looks so meaningful and has that special graphical effect. Colours are great too! Have a good creative day Andrea

its good just to play ... jane calls it 'just because' doesn;t she, e.g. "Why are you doing that?" "... just because ... " !! also, armed with my travel iron and pieces of wax, I had a bash at Encaustic Art, which involves using the iron as both a wax applicator and a tool for making marks ...! You must've been there in the day, cos I was there doing Art for the Terrified in the evening, and I didn't see you ...!

Andrea, your in my thoughts I hope the strikes will be over soon, I have memories of long waits and lots of walking from back in the 80’s when British rail train drivers were on strike, thanks for the nice comments on my work,

Barney the rock art is on the Ross of MULL, the inner Hebrides, thanks for the link, according to the book rock art in Britain is different to else where, in Britain it is abstract shapes no pictures, rock art else where is mostly pictures like your Portugal link, also in the book he says it is in high open places, well these are in a cave near sea level,

Angela don't get too jealous as the other people there were doing pictorial painting and drawing and didn't have a clue what I was doing, so no one to play with, they were very nice and supportive though which is nice to have, Jane is always interested in what I am up to as it is different to what she knows, she is the only one that works in a style closer to textiles as she does a lot of collage work, next week she wants me to show her how I produced some of the papers I had with me ~~ they were ink and bleach papers ~~ so that should be fun as I will do some at the same time and as Jane works painterly it will be interesting seeing how she uses the method,

Looks as if IB is achieving its purpose of getting folks all over the islands to swoon together! # Quite seriously, though, I must admit to being quite impressed with the energy of the artists on the islands. Congrats. everybody, and keep it up.
