7th and 8th May 2005 I attended a felt workshop at the , South Uist. Sally Thomson was our tutor and she was fabulous, so enthusiastic and helpful, some of the people who used to read my blogger blog may remember the post about it, as I deleted that blog I cannot make a link to those posts so some of this post is a repeat from that original post,
when we arrived Sunday the second day, Sally said she was going to show us how to do 3d felt making for making hats and bags, we laid the wool out then covered it with a thin cloth and folded over the edges we wanted to join,
then we laid more wool on top of the cloth,
laying in the tweed strips before felting and covering them with wool,
when we had fulled it a little we turned the whole over and folded in the edges that were now showing, it needs a photo demonstration then it will be clear,
I decided to make a bag in blues and purples, I had grabbed some bits from my sewing table as I鈥檇 left home and found some strips of harris tweed that looked good with the felt so laid in some pieces then covered with wisps of purple wool to hold them down and felted, the colour is not true as it is more purple than it shows I did try very hard to get it right but the camera/computer wanted the blue to dominate,
bag before beading and embroidery,
bag detail of tweed strips after felting,
I loved the results and after over 2 years have finally finished it,
finished bag,
detail,
I have been enjoying the good weather and working in the garden so less time for the computer,

That's a lovely bag, IT. Your home/workshop must be a treasure house of interesting bits and pieces that you can use on all kinds of projects. What is the "cloth" that you used? It looks like interfacing.
