Sheena Norquay

Sheena’s work is beautiful, the colours of the island landscape capture you from a distance and as you move closer you start to see the small details she has included,

Out Going Tide and Out Going Tide 2

Detail of Out Going Tide

Island Squared
There are 36 squares and each has detail on it, there were 2 quilts like this the other being Sea Squared, I thought I had photos of both on hardcopy camera but only had this one, soooo……

This is a detail of the one I didn’t have the photo of the whole quilt!!!! sorry,

Detail of Sea Squared

Back of Sea Squared, so you can better see the detail in the squares,

I realize it would have been helpful if I had the size of the quilts but sorry I have not, Sheena’s and Frieda’s work was in the same church so it might help if I say that Frieda’s The Elements in the previous post must be at least 6 foot tall while Sheena’s Out Going Tide are between 2 and 3 feet and the Island Squared about 2 foot square, hope that helps,

The coverage is only patchy!

These are lovely, IT. I love the rocks or pebbles in the Outgoing Tide ones, and the detail in the Squares ones. These must be just gorgeous to see in reality at close quarters! NB I'm glad to see my comment on your earlier post has now appeared!

Being Orcadian, of course she is brilliant. And inspired by the islands of her home in everything that she makes.

I know if I re-post my comment about Sheena Norquoy being an Orcadian, it will appear twice like a bargain bundle...so I won't...

thanks you FC such a clever cat I didn't know where Shena was from, I love LLQS for introducing me to Sheena's work it was a pity I didn't get to meet her but the day I was talking with Frieda, Sheena was doing her workshop, maybe another time,

I have loved Sheena's quilts since I first saw them at a talk she gave a few years ago and its a real treat find these beautiful examples on the internet .They bring with them the special atmosphere of Orkney , and some very happy memories

Brenda I'm pleased you have enjoyed seeing the photos of Sheena's quilts she does not seem to have anything on the web I did a search before going to LLQS but didn't find anything,
