Amy has firm beliefs and strong opinions and will fight for what she believes is right. Her feistiness, though charming, can take her beyond the boundaries of good behaviour. At times teenage Amy overwhelmed her father Alan and he occasionally called on the restraining influence of Amy's Jamaican grandmother Mabel Thompson, who lives in Bradford.
When she discovered that her mother had been sentenced for a violent incident as a teenager, Amy worried that her own hot temper might one day get her into similar trouble. But Alan and Usha managed to persuade Amy that her caring side was pre-emininent.
Amy qualified as a midwife in 2010 and not long after she spotted pre-eclampsia symptoms in Helen who was pregnant with Henry.
