Ryan Speedo Green

Bass-baritone from USA, 29 years old

I’m a native of Suffolk, Virginia and studied at Florida State University and the Hartt School of Music.

I made my Met stage debut in the 2012/13 season as the Mandarin Turandot, and the Second Knight Parsifal

My awards include a National Grand Finals winner of the 2011 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. In 2014 I received a George London Foundation Award, first prize in the Opera Index Competition, an Annenberg grant, first prize in the Gerda Lissner Foundation competition and both the Richard and Sara Tucker Grants from the Richard Tucker Foundation.

I made my Met stage debut in the 2012/13 season as the Mandarin Turandot, and the Second Knight Parsifal, and completed the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program in 2014.

Additional operatic highlights include Commendatore Don Giovanni with The Juilliard School, Colline La bohème with Central City Opera and Don Magnifico La Cenerentola with Opera Colorado.

In 2014 I joined the Wiener Staatsoper ensemble, where roles included Sparafucile Rigoletto, Basilio Il barbiere di Siviglia, and King Aida. I also appeared as Rambo in the Met’s The Death of Klinghoffer.

Concert work includes the bass solo in Verdi’s Requiem in Hartford and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Florida Symphony.

I enjoy exploring the traditions and foods of different countries. I also like American football, basketball, and weightlifting. By the way - my middle name really is Speedo.
