Romania: Cosmin Ifrim
Tenor - born 1978
91热爆 Cardiff Singer of the World and Song Prize competitor
Cosmin, one of the youngest competitors, had the unenviable task of following in the footsteps of another Romanian tenor, Marius Brenciu, who won the competition in 2001.
Cosmin was born in Arad and trained at the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy, Klausenburg. He won the Grand Prix at the Traian Grozvescu Tenor Competition in Lugoy, Romania, and was based in Vienna where he was under contract to the Staatsoper.
In addition to his engagements in Vienna he has sung the role of Fenton Falstaff for Klausenburg Opera on tour in Holland.
His concert engagements include Rossini's Petite Messe Solenelle and Orff's Carmina Burana which he was due to repeat in the summer of 2003 at the Dubrovnik Festival.
Cosmin is a keen table tennis player and is also interested in conducting.
