Peter Bessant works for Red Funnel. He is one of the many staff who add to the festival atmosphere for ferry customers on days when big events are staged on the Isle of Wight.
In charge of ‘Guest Experience’ on the Red Eagle ferry, he is a human dynamo and enjoys banter with his customers.
On festival weekends he efficiently ensures that no passenger goes hungry and that no-one’s beer glass is empty.
"To me, it's just such a buzz. It's fantastic. A quiet day to me is a boring day. I just don't like it when it's quiet. The more people, the merrier for me," says Peter.
"I know all the tricks in the book - I've been here 34 years. It's like The Titanic - I go down with it."Â
A long serving member of Red Funnel, he joined the company from school and he worked his way up through the ranks.
Colleagues suspect he lives on the ship because he is so enthusiastic about his job.
