During the last three million years, meltwaters from successive ice ages have carved out one of the greatest natural wonders in the country - Cheddar Gorge. It lies on the southern edge of the Mendip Hills in Somerset and has become a huge tourist attraction. Most vistors come to marvel at the scenery, but Mike Dilger has come to see something else which he's wanted to see for a very long time - the Cheddar pink. To a botanist this plant is every bit as famous as Cheddar cheese. It's a plant that really likes to live on the edge. When the Victorian botanists discovered it they went bonkers for it and almost collected it out of existence. It is one of the rarest plants you will ever see. It is found in the Cheddar Gorge and nowhere else in Britain - a 5 star rarity.
