Music Clips

Title

Front load the most important or interesting elements of the clip. People scan titles when deciding what to pick and some platforms don't display the full title, so it is important that the catchiest bits are at the beginning.

There's no exact formula, but the following are popular conventions:

  • name of artist + quote
  • name of artist + description of clip content
  • quote + name of artist

Always include the name of the artist in the title, even if leading with a quote.

To avoid repetition, don't include the programme or brand name in the title.

If there are multiple artists in the clip, include the two or three most famous.

Don't capitalise the first letter of every word. Only capitalise proper nouns, song titles, brand or feature titles.

Titles shouldn't include full stops.

Examples

Renee Fleming: "I really wish I were more of a diva. Life would be more fun."

Selena Gomez absolutely nailed Good For You in the Radio 1 Live Lounge

"Never complain, never explain" - Rita Ora on her sexy new single

Meridian Dan, Majestic and more get rowdy for MistaJam

Live performances

Include the venue in the title if it's important for context or search.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs do an incredible version of Maps live from Maida Vale

If the clip contains multiple songs then the title should flag this.

Duffy reels off Mercy, Well Well Well, Warwick Avenue and Endlessly exclusively for Radio 2

Descriptions

The title and description should work together and not repeat the same information. Don't be afraid of injecting some style into your descriptions, as long as it reflects the show/and or network.

Avoid truisms and generic quotes (e.g. I am so excited about my new album/film/project).

The long description should pull out at least the two best quotes from the interview. People like to read along, particularly if they don't have time to listen to the whole thing. A good example is this .

Direct speech quotations should have double quote marks.

Write in sentence case, with capitals only for proper nouns, song titles, brand or feature titles.

Image

Ideally, use a still photo from the studio. If a photographer was booked, images will be available from straight after the set.

Ensure the image is cropped to 1920 x 1080 pixels with the subject in the centre so that nothing of note is cropped out in 91热爆 Sounds.

Guest mixes need a photo of the person who made the mix. You should avoid using stock photos of Technics etc. wherever possible. If there's no alternative to using a stock photo, make sure that the photo matches the clip. Many DJs don't mix with vinyl, for instance, and a male hand on a CDJ is inappropriate for an Annie Mac mix.

Make sure that the 91热爆 has written permission (this includes email) to use the image in perpetuity.

Genre

Check that the genres inherited from the brand or episode are suitable. If not, select no more than two that best reflect the content of the clip. Accurate genres will help content to be accurately surfaced in 91热爆 Sounds.

A specific music genre should only be applied if it covers more than 60% of the audio.
