Light sources in your bedroom at night
Description
A little boy, Anshu, wonders what happens when his Dad switches his bedroom light off at night. Anshu explores his bedroom as his eyes become accustomed to the dark, noticing the different light sources from inside his room, his house and outside his house.
Classroom Ideas
Whilst watching this clip, students could note down all of the light sources Anshu can see in his bedroom at night. They could also consider the shadows that formed in his bedroom and think about what caused these. These light sources could then be classified into natural light, artificial light or reflectors. Challenge students to identify all of the light sources in their classroom and classify these in the same way. Students could look at different objects and identify if they are giving out light or reflecting light e.g. a glitter ball, a reflective strip, a torch.
Students could also explore the light sources in a darkened room through art using black paper and chalk to depict Anshu鈥檚 bedroom, or a darkened classroom as their setting for a light and shadow picture.
